Perth, Australia — Love, laughter, and a touch of the unconventional were in the air as Lisa and Josh from Ellenbrook tied the knot in what’s been dubbed Perth’s most outrageous wedding — The Wedding YOU Built, courtesy of Mix 94.5.
Held at the stunning Barrett Lane Function Centre in the Swan Valley, the entire ceremony was crafted by the people of Perth, who voted on every element of the wedding — from the dress to the décor. The unique celebration was officiated by none other than Mix 94.5’s own Kymba Cahill, who also happens to be a registered celebrant — and yes, she did it wearing a balloon dress.
For bride Lisa, the ceremony marked more than just a wedding — it was a moment of healing. At 19, and pregnant with her first child, Lisa was left heartbroken just days before her original wedding when her then-partner walked out. Now, years later, she finally had the wedding she’d always dreamed of — with the man who helped her find joy again.
An Emotional Exchange of Vows
Through tears and heartfelt smiles, Lisa addressed Josh at the altar:“Thank you for not getting cold feet. When we first met, we both weren’t ready for what we found in each other — two broken souls wanting to feel whole again. You love me for me. I get to look after you, care for you, and fall deeper in love with you every day. I get to grow old, laugh, cry, and promise to always grow and learn with you — and never give up. I am and will forever be your Lisa.”
Josh responded with his own touching tribute:
“Lisa, when I met you, I never imagined someone as beautiful as you would step into my life and love me the way you did. You took the broken me as I was. The way you look at me and make me feel — I’ve never experienced anything like it. You still make me feel that way every day. I’ll always be there for you and the kids for the rest of our lives. We’ll stick side by side through anything that comes our way. I love you forever.”
A Community-Backed Celebration
Mix 94.5’s The Wedding YOU Built brought the entire community together to give Lisa and Josh a one-of-a-kind celebration — and it was nothing short of magical. From a balloon-adorned celebrant to a packed room full of family, friends, and radio listeners who felt like family, the event proved that love stories come in all shapes, sizes, and sometimes… with a little help from Perth’s favorite radio station.
Congratulations, Lisa and Josh — may your journey together be filled with laughter, strength, and unconditional love.
